Municipalities
A deer program your board can measure.
Towns and villages need results they can defend in public. SCDM delivers a managed program with independent measures, full records and one accountable operator.
Village of Southampton program. Collision and road deer figures from the Village Police and Highway Department; harvest and recovery from SCDM records.
Proof
Village of Southampton
- SCDM wrote the Village plan, adopted in 2023. Agreement through 2029.
- Deer and vehicle collisions down 62.5% (Village Police).
- Dead deer on Village roads down 60% (Highway Dept.).
- 96% of deer recovered over three seasons. 76% of the harvest does.
- Zero injuries, resident incidents or hunter conflicts.
- Harvest came down from 113 to 68 while we hunted more properties. That is what success looks like: fewer deer to find.
How we measure
A baseline from the first two seasons, then indices from resident surveys and third party data such as police, highway and town records. We never count deer. Every hunt, harvest and deer not recovered is logged. Monthly harvest reports and a written annual report.
Three tiers, one program
1. Licensed professionals under Deer Damage Permits finish the job. 2. Management Hunters are the tool. 3. Recreational hunters are the base. Additive, but not enough on their own.
What it costs
Typically $10,000 to $30,000 a year, set by your size, your expectations (meetings, 24 hour contact, field work) and your goals. Property owners in the program never pay.
